Describe

Lai Chau Prison historical site, located in Song Da ward, Muong Lay town, Dien Bien province, was built in 1901 and used by the French colonialists until 1953.

This prison consists of 6 rows of cells, each room is about 7m² wide, equipped with shackles and chains to detain prisoners.

This is a place that marks the crimes of the French colonialists, likened to "hell on earth" because there is only an entrance but no exit. Escaped prisoners were often shot and buried right in the cemetery next door.

Currently, this site is a historical attraction, attracting tourists to learn about the resilient past of the Vietnamese people.
